My main reason for considering the 11" is due to the size (smaller size means a little more elbow room when I'm sitting on a crowded train!) and the weight savings versus my existing Macbook Pro. I'd be using the MBA to do things like adding Drummer tracks to a song, mixing, looping sections, arranging and the like. Any actual recording or heavy duty work would be done on my Mac Mini for which I use a 32" LCD TV as a monitor for. GarageBand for iOS 2.2 now features the powerful creative synthesizer Alchemy and a new sound browser that makes searching through instruments and patches easier than ever.
I should clarify that the Macbook Air would only ever be used for working in Garageband (or Logic if I ever upgrade) during travel times to/from work. Apple today announced major updates to its music creation apps with exciting new features for music makers of all levels on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
